Back Country
We fish the Charlotte Harbor, Gasparilla sound, Pine Island
sound and Lemon Bay areas of Southwest Florida. Species targeted
include Snook, Redfish, and Trout. With the occasional catch
of Cobia, Tripletail, Sheepshead, Mackerel, Sharks, etc. Sometimes
one doesn’t really know what is on the end of the line.
Thousands of acres of prime flats, mangrove islands, passes,
bays and creeks are the stage for this type of fishing. In
any given day, all of the above usually are visited. The sea
life and birds are incredible on this trip.
Tarpon
More Tarpon are caught each year in our waters than anywhere
else on earth. Thousands of these great fish traverse the
depths of Boca Grande pass each day. This pass ,the surrounding
beaches, sounds and Charlotte Harbor contain the greatest
concentration of this magnificent fish from April through
August each year.
Captain Dave doesn’t fish the Pass at Boca Grande due
to the congestion there during the Tarpon Season. It’s
not unusual to see 50-100 boats fishing in the small area
of the famous pass. We fish the nearby inshore areas of Gasparilla
and Pine Island Sound, the beaches of Cayo Costa, Gasparilla,
Little Gasparilla, and Palm Islands. Early and late in the
season the waters of Charlotte Harbor can be the place to
be. Offshore locations can also be very good at certain times
of the year. A typical Tarpon trip begins well before daylight
as these fish like to “eat” early before they
are pressured by the other anglers. Our fish typically range
from 50-175 lbs, most are between 80-100 lbs.
Late afternoon and early evening trips are also available.
Sometime this is the best time to be on the water. Captain
Dave will do his best to accommodate your schedule, desires,
and needs to put that fish of a lifetime on the end of your
line!
